Here is some more about what classical music and opera listeners can find on the site.
Finding live classical music: concerts and opera
The centrepiece of the site is the "Find a concert" system. This lists live classical concerts and opera performances across the world.
Basic listings are free, so anyone who is putting on classical concerts or opera can apply to become a Bachtrack contributor and input their concert dates into our database. As well as the concerts and operas put in by other people, we input many concert dates ourselves with their performance details: we try to make sure that we cover the top orchestras in the USA, the UK and the rest of Europe, as well as some of the most important opera houses. This makes sure that our concert calendar has the most important, prestigious events from the top classical musicians.
In the UK, we cover concerts at the Royal Festival Hall, the Barbican, the Wigmore Hall and Cadogan Hall; in the USA, we put in events from the New York Philharmonic Orchestra, the Boston Symphony Orchestra, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, The San Francisco Symphony Orchestra, the Cleveland Orchestra and many others. In mainland Europe, we cover the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, the Concertgebouw Orchestra and others. Opera houses include the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, Glyndebourne, La Scala, Teatro del Liceu in Barcelona and the Opera de Paris. Over 100 other contributors are also keeping our database up to date with their performances.
For many of the performances, you can click through straight from our listings to a web page where you can book tickets, provided either by the concert halls or orchestras themselves, or from consolidators such as Ticketswitch or Getmein.
So whether you're looking for chamber or classical concerts in London, orchestral music in New York or Boston, opera in London, Paris, Prague or La Scala, the Bachtrack concert finder is the place to come.
The best classical music for kids
Bachtrack's “for kids” section contains lists of classical music events for children, and lots of tips for getting children into classical music. The “for teens” section has events and activities for older kids and teenagers.
Finding the best classical CDs
When you've found the live classical music you want to see, you can also find it on CD from our database of recommended classical and opera recordings. We've listed only the very best, so you don't have to page through hundreds of CDs from different labels and performers.
Finding music shops, clubs and services
In the UK, our directory lists many useful music shops, services, music clubs and societies.
And there's more...
There are lists of radio stations, news, comment, reviews and more
